Brakes are the number one safety feature of any vehicle, and if your brakes are not responding properly when applied or making odd squeaks and squeals, it’s time for brake service and brake repair. When it comes to brake service and brake repair, we will do all that we can to help you remain safe.
If you live or work in West Ashly or Charleston, come to Joe's Alignment for a brake service and repair safety inspection if you are experiencing any of the following issues:
- Your brake pedal shifts levels after you’ve had your foot on it for a while.
- Your brakes are making any kind of noise.
- Your brakes feel soft and sloppy.
- Your vehicle wants to creep forward into a crosswalk.
- If it’s been awhile since you’ve had your brakes checked, repaired, or serviced.
We know people find brake repair and brake service inconvenient and sometimes very frustrating, but brakes are not to be taken for granted or ignored. We work very hard to make you feel comfortable and we make car care pleasant.
We provide a free 27 point inspection including your complete brake system.
Does your personal or work vehicle need an oil change?
Oil, lubricant, and fluids play an extremely important role in the safety and operation of your vehicle. Oil lubricates and protects various systems and components within the engine. When the oil level gets low, or if the oil’s protective qualities have deteriorated, you often invite serious and expensive breakdowns due to increased friction. Avoid the high cost of an engine replacement by maintaining your vehicle with regularly scheduled oil changes.
Oil changes are recommended for all engines, but the frequency is determined by the vehicle’s manufacturer. For the most part, most people change their oil every 3 months or every 3000 miles, whichever comes first. However, synthetic oil changes need not occur as frequently. If you have questions about the recommended frequency of oil changes for your automobile, Joe's Alignment & Muffler Too will be happy to help.
There are more fluids in your vehicle beyond oil.
Be sure your transmission, coolant, brake, and power steering fluids are at the appropriate levels with our 27 point inspection.
Tune-up intervals vary from one type of vehicle to another. Many older vehicles with non-electronic ignitions should be tuned every 10,000 to 12,000 miles or every year, whichever comes first. Newer cars with electronic ignition and fuel injection systems are scheduled to go from 25,000 miles to as many as 100,000 miles without needing a major tune-up.
Refer to your owner’s manual for recommended tune-up intervals, but be aware that even if it says that the vehicle doesn’t require scheduled tune-ups very often, it’s in your best interest to check periodically that your vehicle is working at peak efficiency. If you do a lot of stop-and-go driving or pull heavy loads (like a camper or boat), your ignition system may need to be tuned more often. Here are a couple of symptoms that tell you that your electronic ignition system may need to be tuned or adjusted:
- The car stalls a lot
- The engine runs rough at idle or when you accelerate
- The vehicle become hard to start
We had a modification to our RV built in generator exhaust tailpipe done. The pipe needed to be turned 45 degrees and extended to the side of the motorhome so we could vent the fumes above the windows. This was totally nonstandard job and it was done professionally, quickly, and inexpensively. We were were so impressed by the response. I’m adding this positive review and returning to this shop for future business! Sean was the person who helped us.... my husband is still talking about how impressed he was with this place! That has t happened in a long time.

Got me in quickly for a small repair. I then asked for some regular maintenance and they actually talked me out of something saying I was wasting my money at this time. Prices were very reasonable and it didn’t take very long. These are my new car guys. Looks a little rough around the edges from the outside but don’t let it send you away.

Fastest and beat alignment I've had in the low country. Even encouraged me to bring it back after a few thousand miles to ensure their job was done correctly.

Awesome service. Awesome people.

I had a great experience with Shawn at Joe's Alignment today. I went in because I had a ticking sound in my car when I put my defrost on. He immediately knew the problem and was able to start working on my car. He was kind, honest, and knowledgeable about the part and cars in general. And I love the fact that he likes to give back to charity (We chatted a bit while I was waiting). I was out of there in and hour and a half. I would highly recommend them if you have any car problems!

This place doesn't look like much from the street but the mechanics here are veterans who can figure out the problem and fix it right the first time! This is an old fashioned shop that gets the right results!

I went to this shop this AM. I told Shawn my dilemma, and he found out what was wrong. Not only did he explain my options, but he was very frank about those options. I allowed them to fix the problem and was COMPLETELY satisfied with the outome. The staff was VERY friend and welcoming. I WILL MOST DEFINITELY come back again. I told them they have a customer for life. Shawn, Bear, and the guys at Joe's Alignment & Muffler can work miracles.

Joe's Alignment is by far the best Mechanic Shop in Charleston. If you want a shop that will not screw you over this is defiantly the place to go. I have been there so many times that ALL the staff have became family to me. I can honestly say that I have been a satisfied customer since the moment I walked into their shop months ago!! I will continue to take my car there always 🙂 Shout out to the Owners!! 🙂 You are all the awesome!

These guys rock!! They replaced the muffler and did some front-end work on the Turtle - my 1990 Winnebago Warrior on a Toyota chasis. They were honest and quick and didn't try to talk me in to a bunch of extra repairs. I live full-time on the road, but these will be my go-to guys when I'm anywhere near Charleston! Incredibly satisfied with my experience there, and I don't usually write reviews.
